Collection and Processing
Collection & Processing
This section provides a brief overview of the collection and processing methods employed by the ARCBS.
The blood supply in Australia, via the ARCBS, is collected from non-remunerated voluntary blood donors.
All donations follow a comprehensive screening program from interviews to biomedical tests to ensure the safety of the supply.
This section also describes the additives and anticoagulants in use along with labelling of the products and finally the correct storage and handling of these products.
From a hospital perspective the areas of labelling, storage and handling are extremely important in helping you play your role in ensuring the product is the correct one and that you take appropriate care so ensuring the safety continuum.
