Precautions

Interactions with other drugs: concurrent therapy with Thrombotrol-VF may enhance the anticoagulant effect of heparin.

Dosage and Administration

An individual patient's dose should be determined using the pre-treatment and desired plasma ATIII levels.

When an infusion of Thrombotrol-VF is indicated for a patient with hereditary deficiency of AT to control an acute thrombotic episode or prevent thrombosis following surgical or obstetrical procedures, it is desirable to raise the ATIII levels to normal.

The duration of treatment for which this level needs to be maintained is not established and will depend on the indication for treatment, type and extent of surgery, patient's medical condition, past history and physician's judgment.
